Getting down to business
With the main works about to start on site, there isn’t a lot of visible progress to date, but there is a large team of people behind the scenes preparing for the work to begin.
An ecologist has now surveyed the site to make sure any protected species of wildlife, such as bats or birds, are not disturbed during the works.
The architect is developing finely detailed drawings to show exactly how the school will be built. These drawings will be shared with the specialist subcontractors who will make the drawings a reality.
The structural engineer has investigated the ground and designed a concrete slab to sit on a piled foundation system. The engineer will check that all the loads from the weight of the building such as people, furniture, wind and thermal movement are all included in a design which will perform for the life of the building.
This is just a small selection of the people involved in the Rockwood Development. As the project takes shape over the coming months, we look forward to bringing you further instalments and more information on the people behind the project.
